TASTE OF AMALFI COAST

Life is a combination of magic and pasta. -Federico Fellini

This was our morning routine while staying at the Casa Angelina – double espresso with fresh fruits and pastries (courtesy of Luca and Fabio), while taking in the scenery. It is such a peaceful way to start each day.

First night’s dinner was Casa Angelina’s restaurant, Un Piano Nel Cielo “a floor in the sky”, with sea, sky and coastal views. The chef of this fine dining restaurant uses all local ingredients, reimagining classic Campania dishes. It is a perfect blend of custom and creativity.

Our day on the boat was full of wine with fresh mozzarella and olives in between salt water dips. I could do this everyday. And I mean EVERY.DAY.

One of our favorite restaurant spots we discovered was Lo Guarracino in Positano. To get there you take the picturesque path carved into the rock along the sea. It’s a beautiful walk up as you have views of the rocky coastline and the Fornillo beach. The restaurant is near the famous Tower Trasita, which was built by Positano in the second half of 500 to defend itself from the continuous pirate raids. It’s a gorgeous area! Lo Guarracino offers panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast. We were lucky enough to snag a table in the great room overlooking the beach and sea – and with a pretty sunset we felt very fortunate.

Now, let’s talk about their food. Obviously, we looooooved the ambiance of the place and their food was just as amazing. To be honest, we were a little skeptical at first but by the end of the evening we were raving about Lo Guarracino! They are famous for their heart shaped pizzas and although you can never have too much pizza in Italy, we opted out of that. One of the other most popular dishes is their fusilli al limone. You know lemons are an icon of the Amalfi Coast, so I couldn’t pass up a homemade lemon pasta! It was amazing. Pure cuisine magic.

Our final night, we went to Michelin starred Zass at the Il San Pietro di Positano. Before arriving at Il San Pietro, our water taxi driver took us on a little adventure.

Once we arrived, we had to take a hidden elevator to the restaurant. This cliff side resort is very special, with amazing views. It’s a very romantic spot – the ambiance, service, and the food is world class.

On our way back to Praiano, we were surprised with a firework show! What a way to end what was the trip of a lifetime.
