TASTE OF TUSCANY

In vino veritable (In wine there is truth). -Italian Probverb

Staying at the Borgolecchi means Inga’s incredible cooking. The smell of freshly baked pastries and strong espresso beans are enough to jolt you out of the coziness of your room. The hard part is trying not to take one of each! But then again, you are in Italy and you will be biking it off… sooo why not? My thoughts exactly. And that’s pretty much what we did every morning – an espresso and 2 to 3 (or 4) pastries. Oh and don’t forget the oatmeal and eggs! We were going to bike it off anyway, and on vacation.

I wish I could show you more of her cooking (dinner), but we were so present in the moment of her company and the amazing meals she prepared. Just take my word that it was the perfect home cooked meal. One of my favorite moments is sitting outside enjoying the good food and wine. Classically romantic.

Upon our arrival, sweet Inga surprised us with a bottle of Prosecco in our room for our honeymoon. One of a million reasons why we love this special woman.

We didn’t just bike, we also enjoyed the local wines of Castello di Ama. We toured the vineyard learning about their wines and the famous art sculptures placed around the property. It is definitely a place worth visiting and touring – the history behind the wine and the art is fascinating.

We were lucky enough to enjoy some fabulous food, wine and sunset views at the winery’s restaurant, Il Ristoro.

On our final night, João invited us over to his casa on the Castello di Ama vineyard for dinner – prepared by Inga, of course. A lovely ending to our perfect time in Chianti.
